An electronic flight bag such as Fore flight, WingX, FlyQ, and Garmin Pilot can greatly increase both situational awareness and safety but only if the pilot is proficient in their use. Att empting to learn the application while you are flying the airplane has the exact opposite effect and can be dangerous. This workshop is intended to ma ke you familiar with the application so that it is an aid in the cockpit an d not a distraction.
Preflight planning is the first step in a succes sful and safe flight. Electronic Flight Bags can simplify the process of pr eflight planning and bring most of the information you need such as runway lengths, fuel required, expected weather, and other vital information to on e place. This workshop will teach you how to use the EFB to efficiently pla n your intended flights.
Once in the air, situational awareness is th e key to the successful completion of the flight. Learn how the EFB can bri ng traffic and weather into your cockpit and help you avoid midair collisio ns and inadvertant flight into IMC, one of the most deadly mistakes pilots can make - even those with an instrument rating. In addition, your facilita tor will cover overall use of the EFB in all phases of flight.
Runway incursions continue to be a significant problem for the GA community. Come learn how the aviation applications covered in this workshop can help, so you do not become the next runway incursion statistic.
Pilot airspace deviations, including pilots 'busting' TFRs, are another area of concern f or the GA community. The aviation applications covered in this workshop can provide a significant increase in situational awareness with respect to ai rspace. Learn how to make use of these tools to ensure you are complying wi th airspace requirements.
