An electronic flight bag such as Foreflight and Garmin Pil ot can greatly increase both situational awareness and safety but only if t he pilot is proficient in their use. Attempting to learn the application wh ile you are flying the airplane has the exact opposite effect and can be da ngerous. This workshop is intended to make you familiar with the applicatio n so that it is an aid in the cockpit and not a distraction.
Prefligh t planning is the first step in a successful and safe flight. Electronic Fl ight Bags can simplify the process of preflight planning and bring most of the information you need such as runway lengths, fuel required, expected we ather, and other vital information to one place. This workshop will teach y ou how to use the EFB to efficiently plan your intended flights.
Once in the air, situational awareness is the key to the successful completion of the flight. Learn how the EFB can bring traffic and weather into your co ckpit and help you avoid midair collisions and inadvertant flight into IMC, one of the most deadly mistakes pilots can make - even those with an instr ument rating. In addition, your facilitator will cover overall use of the E FB in all phases of flight.
Runway incursions continue to be a signif icant problem for the GA community. Come learn how the aviation application s covered in this workshop can help, so you do not become the next runway i ncursion statistic.
Pilot airspace deviations, including pilots 'bust ing' TFRs, are another area of concern for the GA community. The aviation a pplications covered in this workshop can provide a significant increase in situational awareness with respect to airspace. Learn how to make use of th ese tools to ensure you are complying with airspace requirements.
