SUMMARY:Grapevine Monthly Camping Weekend
LOCATION:Grapevine (AZ88) near Roosevelt Lake
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:\n \n \nThe camp host for this month is:\n~ Linda & Randy ~\n
\n\n \n\n\nJust a reminder that before you enjoy the family holiday fu
n, December Grapevine Fly In is coming up, the 20th - 22nd. The weather con
tinues to be delightful, so I am anticipating a great weekend.\n\n\nFly in
on Friday and enjoy a Saturday breakfast burrito brought to you by Jim and
Diane Wisda, and Jim and Stella Knapp. It warms you up inside and gets the
day started.\n\n\nLast month, with the help from EVIT students and APA volu
nteers, the weeds have been cut down and additional gravel fill has improve
d the camping sites on the west side of runway.\n\n\nHomemade Chili is on t
he menu for Saturday dinner. So, come and join me and other pilots for a ca
mp out under a beautiful night sky in Arizona. If we can, I will have a mov
ie night too after dinner. However, don’t forget to bring a warm blanket to
stay comfy for the show.\n\n\nJanuary, March, and April hosting have been
filled. That leaves February open, if anyone is interested.\n\n\n \n\n
\nSafe Flying,\n\n\nLeanne\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \nFriday night: Cam
p out under the stars!\n\n\nSaturday Night: Join us to camp under the
stars and tell stories around the group campfire! Camp host will prep
are the main course. Campers, please bring a side dish or dessert to s
hare. \n\n\nSunday: Most folks depart by noon\nATTN: Please, no motor
vehicles, other than APA and USFS support vehicles, are permitted past the
gate at the highway. This is a closed area and only aircraft access is allo
wed. Help us keep our commitment to the USFS!\n\n\nThe Arizona Pilots Assoc
iation has done an incredible job saving and rehabilitating Grapevine Airst
rip (88AZ). Located on the south shore of Roosevelt Lake, the approac
h to runway 17 is beautiful. It gives the boaters on the lake a close
-up view of many different aircraft as they land on the fantastic asphalt r
unway. At 3,800 feet long, this allows most aircraft to check it out.
\n\n\nI am here to invite those interested to enjoy the backcountry f
lying, camping, and great camaraderie. On the third Saturday of the m
onth from October to April, Grapevine has a hosted weekend fly in and campi
ng. Although not everyone is able to come in on Friday, there are a f
ew of us that wouldn’t miss it. I am glad to tell the Friday crowd th
at the restaurant in Roosevelt is open again and under new management.\n\n\
nOn Saturday, there are plenty of members and non-members that fly in and l
ove to talk planes, airstrips, and other exciting adventures! I want
to encourage everyone to come out and join us. Watch out for Mike And
resen, there is always something to clean up or work on, and the Grapevine
airstrip is maintained only though donations and volunteer help.\n\n\nAlso,
why not stay overnight? The weekend host(s) will provide the dinner’
s main meal and the sides are brought by the other campers. This resu
lts in a fantastic, scrumptious, heavenly, yummy, luscious, divine, tasty,
mouth-watering meal with beautiful scenery and wonderful sunsets. In
September, Jupiter was rising over the eastern mountain range, competing wi
th Venus in the western sky.\n\n\nThere will be some additions to the weeke
nd. Coming this year, we will have corn hole competitions and other f
un activities. Also, how good are you at making a paper airplane?&nbs
p; Will it fly? How well will it fly? Won’t you come and
join us? Want to be a host? I’ve had many other suggestions, bu
t I would love to hear from you, too.\n\n\nThis email address is being prot
