SUMMARY:Day Trip to Lake Havasu
LOCATION:Lake Havasu, Arizona (airport KHII)
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:\n\nJanuary 31, 2026 -- Lake Havasu, Arizona (airport KHII) --
10:30am-11am arrival time. \n\n\nRSVP HERE\n\n\n\n\nGreetings everyone
! For our first day trip in 2026, we’ll be heading back to Lake Havasu. Las
t January, we kicked off our 2025 Day Trips with a lunch flight to Lake Hav
asu. It was a great success, with pilots coming from 3 states and over 30 p
eople in attendance. \n\n\nFor those of you who haven’t been to Lake H
avasu airport, there is a great restaurant on the field. Hangar 24 Craft Br
ewing sells their own craft beers, and it is also a great restaurant for lu
nch and dinner. Hangar 24 opens for lunch at 11:00am, so we’ll plan to arri
ve at KHII at 10:30 - 11:00am and then walk over to the restaurant. It’s pa
rticularly important to RSVP if you plan to attend, as the restaurant has r
equested a headcount prior to our arrival.\n\nA unique aspect of Lake Havas
u is the London Bridge. In 1968, entrepreneur Robert McCulloch purchased th
e London Bridge from the City of London. He then had the bridge dismantled,
transported from London to Lake Havasu, and rebuilt to its original form (
taking three years in the process). The bridge is only 7 miles south of the
Lake Havasu airport and makes for a great photo opportunity if your passen
ger has a camera handy.\n\n\nAs always, be sure to thoroughly preflight bot
h yourself and your aircraft. And do a thorough flight planning as would be
required for any cross-country flight. KHII can sometimes experience windy
conditions (especially in the Spring months, but can happen anytime).\n\n\
nKHII is a non-tower-controlled airport, so pilots should review Advisory C
ircular 90-66C for proper operation in non-towered airports.\n\n\n.\n\n\n\n
