I’m planning our first weekend getaway of 2026 to visit Joshua Tree National Park in CA.

Here is the tentative itinerary.  I’m still a little light on details (since I’m still planning), but will provide more information as we get closer.

Note that all times listed are Pacific Standard Time (CA time), which is 1 hour earlier than Mountain Standard Time (AZ).

Friday 1/30

• Arrive at Bermuda Dunes Airport (UDD) at your leisure on Friday. Bermuda Dunes is a non-towered airport about 15 miles SE of Palm Springs.
• We’ll likely forego rental cars for the weekend. So, plan to carpool in taxis / Ubers / Lyfts to the hotel (Chateau at Lake La Quinta), which is about 15 minutes away.
• Happy hour and dinner at Melange, which is the on-site restaurant in the hotel lobby.
• We’ll be staying at the Chateau at Lake La Quinta. This is the same place we stayed during our previous weekend getaway to Palm Springs about a year ago.

Saturday, 1/31

• Breakfast on your own, either at the hotel (continental breakfast included) or at a nearby restaurant.
• Tour of Joshua Tree National Park, leaving the hotel at 10:00 AM and returning about 4:00 PM. If the weather is nice, the tour will be in open-air Hummers.  If not, we’ll be in climate-controlled vans.
• Dinner at a local restaurant.
• Overnight at the Chateau at Lake La Quinta.

Sunday, 2/1

• Breakfast on your own, either at the hotel (continental breakfast included) or at a nearby restaurant.
• Depart for home.

I’m estimating the cost for the hotel and Joshua Tree National Park tour to be $750 for singles / $950 for couples.  Meals and ground transportation are not included, except for continental breakfast at the hotel each morning.
