june 2025 president report annual meeting 1 Thanks to all of you who attended our Annual Meeting on May 10th in Scottsdale. We had a great turnout, and it was great to get together with our members to share all the work APA is doing to ensure you are represented at the legislative level, preserving our backcountry strips, and supporting the next generation of Arizona aviation professionals.  In
The Saturday morning ritual of flying someplace for breakfast has gone pretty well recently, and the weather has been relatively cooperative. Something has been bothering me though, where have the bugs gone? I did take a short break from the breakfasts a while back, and that may have been when the bugs were out, but lately my flying has been rather bug free. I
Greetings, Thanks to all of you that attended the April Grapevine camping weekend. Our Grapevine coordinator, Leanne Tawoda, reported that we had great turnout and weather for the event. Unfortunately, the warm weather is just around the corner, and this will be our last event for the season. We’ll pick back up in October and look forward to seeing you in the
So far, we have been having pretty good flying weather, although sometimes it’s been a bit windy, but nothing like what pilots have to contend with much of the time in other parts of the country. So why don’t we just go flying and enjoy what we have! While we have been complaining about landing fees being accessed from information that is being taken from our
Greetings, The Arizona spring weather has been a little unsettled and unfortunately, we were forced to cancel the March Grapevine Camping weekend that was due to be hosted by our friends John and Trish McKenna from The Recreational Aviation Foundation. This was certainly disappointing, but we’ve already planned to reschedule them for the October Grapevine

Greetings, Thanks to everyone that stopped by the APA and RAF booth at the AOPA Buckeye Air Fair. We had a great time, and it was great to be able to spend some time with our members and make some new friends. A special thanks to the RAF volunteers that helped man the booth over the weekend. We’re fortunate to have a great partnership with the RAF to help
The flying weather has been great for the usual fly out for breakfast. It’s been cool and the airplane performance has been good, even if the flying skills have not been what we would prefer. Perhaps we should just go out a time or two, and do some sharpening up. In any event, let’s go flying!  The temperature has been going up, and we have been above the
Greetings, The start of the new year is a busy time for APA and this year has been no exception. We recently attended the Arizona Aviation Safety Advisory Group’s (ASAG) 51st Annual Awards Banquet and were honored to present the Ruth Reinhold Award for Aviation Safety to Belinda Burnett, Director of Aviation Programs at Cochise College in Douglas, Arizona
I hope all is going well for you so far this year. The days have been cool and the aircraft performance has been excellent in this nice cool air, and most certainly, the pilot performance should also be much improved. Except for a bit of wind at times, the flying weather has been generally great. I still can’t believe the length of this last hot summer. It
