November 1 - 3, 2024

 

Our last weekend getaway of 2024 to Palm Springs is scheduled for Friday 11/1 - Sunday 11/3. The trip will feature the Palm Springs Air Museum, Palm Springs Tramway, plus a stay at the Chateau at Lake La Quinta.

Here is the itinerary:

Friday 11/1

  • ·Arrive at Palm Springs International Airport (KPSP). Palm Springs International has two FBOs (Signature and Atlantic). I’ll let you know which one we’ll plan to use as we get closer to November.
  • ·Spend late morning / early afternoon at the Palm Springs Air Museum. This is a very good museum with a wide variety of civilian and military aircraft on display. It is located adjacent to Palm Springs International Airport, so there will be plenty of aircraft taking off and landing for your viewing pleasure.
  • ·Dinner at a local restaurant.
  • ·Overnight at the Chateau at Lake La Quinta, which is a 24-room boutique hotel in nearby La Quinta.

 

Saturday 11/2

  • ·Breakfast at the hotel.
  • ·Ride on the Palm Springs Tramway. The tramway is the world’s largest rotating tram car, which transports you roughly 6,000 feet from the valley floor up to the mountain ridge high above Palm Springs. There are restaurants, bars, gift shops, and plenty of hiking opportunities once up on the ridge.
  • ·Free time to explore Downtown Palm Springs, with plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars.
  • ·We’ll meet for dinner at a local restaurant.
  • ·Overnight at the Chateau at Lake La Quinta.

Sunday 11/3

  • ·Breakfast on your own.
  • ·Return to Palm Springs International, leave for home.

 

I’ve reserved 5 rooms with king beds (not including mine) at the hotel, which is all they had left when I booked.  So, the first 5 singles/couples who get me a deposit are in.  I will also reserve rental cars for ground transportation, to be picked up at the airport.

I’m estimating the cost for the hotel, rental car, air museum, and tramway to be $675 for singles / $800 for couples.  Meals are not included.
