NMPA Mountain Flying Clinic
September 27, 28, 29
Taos, New Mexico

Annually, NMPA presents a basic mountain flying course in how to safely navigate
mountainous areas. The ground school will give you the tools to understand and deal with the
additional challenges of mountain flying. It includes three segments: Basic Mountain Flying,
Use of Technology in Mountain Flying, and Survival, taught by three different instructors.
In addition, you may elect to fly over a course designed to give you actual experience flying in
the mountain passes, landing at high altitude airports, and flying with an experienced
mountain flying instructor. Successfully completed, this will also earn you a Biennial Flight
Review (BFR). Some insurance companies also will discount your premium for attending this
safety clinic.
GROUND SCHOOL: Friday 0900 – 1800 in the meeting room at Old Martina's Restaurant, Taos.
Lunch and dinner on your own - you can purchase lunch and dinner at Old Martina’s, one of the better
restaurants in Taos. They are providing us with a meeting room.
FLIGHTS: We will fly Saturday and Sunday. Two route options are available or you may elect both.
 Flight Option 1 will be approximately 3 hrs and will involve 7 passes and 5 airports.
 Flight Option 2 will be a more extensive route into the Rockies.
Flights are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis, so if you need to fly Saturday, reserve early!
