This is a Fee Event held in conjunction with the 4th Annual Pleasant Valley Fly-In.

Practices and procedures for safely operating in the mountain environment specifically for backcountry strip operations. 

The day will consist of six hours of classroom instruction beginning at 0830.

1) Fundamentals of Mountain Canyon Flying
     Steep Stabilized Approach
     Emergency Canyon Turns
     Safe Take Off and Departure Procedures
2) Mountain Canyon - Getting There
     Navigation
     Meteorology
     Ridge Crossings
     Turn Around Strategy

Lunch

3) Density Altitude - Practical Applications
4) Aim Point - Airspeed

Directions to Venue:
Flying: ANNOUNCE your backcountry arrival/departure on 122.9

Plan left traffic for 05L. Plan right traffic for 23R. Gliders operate from 05R/23L and will remain east of the airfield. Use caution for the aerobatic box to the west. See P48 and KDVT pages in A/FD and page 367 of the Southwest A/FD Supplemental for details for aerobatic operations. For further information contact Prescott AFSS on 1-800-992-7433.

Driving: From I-17, west on Carefree Hwy (AZ 74). Pass the wind sock, then left (SW) on the unpaved access road to the event hangars. This will place you on the west side of the airfield.
