Update on 1/9/14:
Here’s the drill for Saturday at Prescott. For those not familiar with PRC, please study the airport diagram. Plan on arriving by no later than 0900 and come-up on 123.45 while in route for our group flight following. Arriving from the southeast or along I-17, you will not receive the ATIS until reaching MAYER intersection unless you are above 9,000’ so be prepared and don’t hesitate to let the tower know that you are unfamiliar with the area. In all likelihood, PRC will be using runway 21 L & R. If you get assigned 21R, it is the shorter of the two runways and you will most likely be assigned taxiway A which will eventually morph into taxiway B. If landing in 21L, you may get an early turn-off to taxiway D. Legend Aviation is at the south end of taxiway D. I have notified Legend that there may be a large influx to traffic to their ramp on Saturday so you may get double parked which might block an aircraft behind you; just bear with it as no is going anywhere until we are done anyway. When you enter Legend via the main entry, purchase your “meal ticket” at the front counter. Continue through the lobby and make a right turn and the Mustang Café is at the end of the hallway. PRC can be a busy place as there are numerous flight schools there so looking out the window might be a good idea. The Tower is used to working with students so please try to not add to their angst. One more thing, while taxing on D, make sure that you receive Clarence to cross runway 12/30. The weather should be great and I am looking forward to meeting everyone Saturday morning.
Our January 2014 event will be to PRC and the Mustang Café at Legend Aviation. Since the restaurant is only open for special events (I believe that the BC is “special”), this will be sort of a catered event. As such, I need to give them some sort of an estimate of the attendance that they will need to prepare for. They will be sending me the proposed menu (buffet style) for our event and when I get it, I will send it out to the membership. Thanks for your help in this planning stage.
In case you are not aware, the January event will kick-off our 20th year of monthly fly-in events so the PRC event will be quite special for all of us.
