Grand Gulch (North Rim) – Boasting Arizona’s first commercial copper mine, the Grand Gulch is a very interesting and historic site. Explore the old ruins, and the only standing adobe smelter in the world! Located just northeast of Lake Mead, this is a favorite of our friends from Utah, and a great launching point for exploring the area north of the Grand Canyon. Bring your own food, water, etc. this is roughing it!

The RAF, APA, and Utah Backcountry Pilots Association are planning a fly-in at the grand Gulch Mine airstrip located on the north rim in Arizona for the weekend of May 1-3, 2015. If you would like to stay overnight, plan accordingly; there are no bathroom facilities at this location.
