Hangar 24 Craft Brewing continues to build
air show experience into a unique event
Come for the acrobatics and enjoy the plethora of live music, food and craft beer options on the ground. Come primarily for the food, and pair it with craft beer while enjoying planes in the sky and live music on stage. Come for the craft beer and have plenty of entertainment options on hand. And anybody there for the live music, will find plenty to do between acts.
As a craft brewery that owns a pair of annual aviation events, Hangar 24 Craft Brewing in Redlands, California, continues to reimagine the air show experience. This spring’s Hangar 24 AirFest & 10th Anniversary Celebration is lining up to be the biggest and certainly the most unique yet, adding a second day to the festivities, while reshaping the entertainment both in the air and on the ground at the general aviation Redlands Municipal Airport.
The “Air” portion of AirFest on May 19-20 will be highlighted by appearances from the United States Air Force’s F-16 Viper Demonstration Team out of South Carolina and the Royal Canadian Air Force’s F-18 Demonstration Team. Plenty of civilian pilots will entertain as well from Jon Melby in the Hangar 24 Muscle Bi-Plane, to Vicky Benzing, Kent Pietsch, Tony Higa, Jon Collver and Greg Colyer.
Live music from genres that include rock ‘n’ roll and country will permeate the AirFest grounds on both days of the event. There will even be a new beer festival on May 19 that will include local, regional and national breweries, with access included in your AirFest admission.
The second day of AirFest, dubbed “The Hangar 24 Spin Recovery Party,” will take on a relaxed vibe with bands playing during the aviation performances. Announcer Jon “Huggy” Huggins will return to the microphone for Sunday’s headliner acts. Instead of a beer festival, Day 2 will include a partnership with a soon-to-be-announced winery to vary the beverage menu.
While Hangar 24 has entered its 10th year of operation, the AirFest portion of the anniversary festivities have taken place only the past six years. Every AirFest has taken place at the Redlands Municipal Airport, located across the street from the Hangar 24 brewery and taproom. A second yearly AirFest was added in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, this past fall as the Hangar 24 Lake Havasu Brewery & Grill celebrated its first year of operation at the Lake Havasu City Airport. That AirFest was the first to add a beer festival of outside breweries to the proceedings.
Well over 20 food vendors and counting will be on hand, while the Hangar 24 AirFest & 10th Anniversary Celebration in Redlands will include a Kids Zone, an all-inclusive VIP seating area, an Oktoberfest-style covered beer garden and static air displays throughout the grounds. Other unique highlights and features will be announced as they are confirmed.
Tickets are scheduled to go on sale in February. For more information, visit hangar24airfest.com.
