Many of you may recall that I participate in an annual Christmas event for the Navajo Nation where we fly used clothing up Gallup, NM.  This isn't that ... although the Navajo Nation will be the recipient!  As you're probably aware, the Coronavirus pandemic has been particularly gruesome for Navajos living in AZ.  Besides having an overwhelmed medical support system and sometimes lacking basics such as electricity and running water, they're sorely short of food supplies!  To address the food shortage, Sunland Asphalt and Wings of Faith are co-sponsoring a food drive in Holbrook, AZ on June 20th.  It will be held at the airport, and I volunteered to organize a group of pilots to collect donations and deliver them that morning - ref. attached flyer.  Currently, we have 12 pilots that are soliciting donations and plan to deliver them.  I am one of the 12.

So, once again, I'm asking for your help on a humanitarian mission.  Like most of the pilots, I will be flying solo that morning to maximize the amount of food I can carry; I'm asking for your assistance to fill my plane.  (There's no such thing as "too much"!  We have 1-2 standby aircraft who can take any excess items.)  How can you assist?

• Purchase and donate food supplies (e.g., bulk pinto beans, flour, rice, cooking oil, canned meats, dried fruits, etc. per the flyer's suggestions)
  • I will be amassing food supplies during the week of 6/14 and am willing to coordinate pickups throughout the Phoenix Valley.  If you are willing to drop off donations, my friend (and fellow pilot) Alan Fitzgerald has graciously donated the use of his photography gallery Art Intersection in downtown Gilbert.  The gallery is located at 207 N. Gilbert Rd., #201, Gilbert, AZ  85234.  Alan and I will eventually transfer all supplies to our hangars at the Chandler Municipal Airport.
  • If you plan to purchase things yourself, consider shopping at American Discount Foods.  They are working with Doug Diehl, another of our airlift pilots, putting together some of the bulk items and providing deep discounts on pricing.  In addition, any other items in the store will be discounted 15% for this humanitarian mission.  Please ask for Dave or Josh, the store managers, and they will assist you.  Be sure and take the "Navajo Donation" flyer with you to identify yourself as part of our food drive.  Here's some store info:  American Discount Foods, 1360 W Southern Avenue (North of Fiesta Mall), Mesa, AZ 85202, 480-649-4495, https://www.americandiscountfoodsaz.com/ 

• Make a monetary donation.
  • You can send me a check, and I will purchase supplies during the week of 6/14.  (Alan and I plan to shop during the week of 6/14.)  My contact info is:  Craig Albright, 733 E. Regardless of how you participate, all donations are tax-deductible.  Wings of Faith is a 501(c)3, charitable organization.  And, all pilots will receive a form to authenticate their participation when they deliver the supplies on Saturday morning.  In turn, I will email copies of that form to you.
