I can say for myself that I have missed the weekend Fly In at Pleasant Valley in Young, AZ. During that last season at Grapevine, many of us have talked about bring it back. So one step at a time, and put September 29 through October 1, 2023 on your calendar. “Rain” date will be the following weekend.

My contact in Young is Vern Van Voorst. He has accommodations for 6 people. He has 3 rooms, with double occupancy. Also, he and other residents will have transportation available for the weekend.

According to Vern, Young residents are very happy to have the return of Pleasant Valley Fly In. So let’s talk the weekend schedule…

Everything will start with Friday night. How about dinner at Antlers has returned (although more expensive, ouch!) or The Pleasing Palate. Depending on interest, we can have small groups go to either one. Antlers cost will be $17-35 per main meal. At the Pleasing Palate, the owner will work with us on the menu. We will have more information later.

On Saturday, a BBQ with pilots, drive ins, and residents from Young with start at 12 noon. Dinner will be on your own, but dessert will be on the menu along with music by the fire.

Isn’t this sounding great? S’mores?

Sunday, before everyone is departing, I looking at breakfast/brunch at the airstrip.

So please put this date on your calendar. We will be requiring registration of those flying or driving in for Saturday or the weekend. Any cost will be required in advance, as well.

            ✱  Friday arrivals. Open to members/friends of members flying or driving in.

            ✱  Dinner Pleasing Palate in Young

Saturday, 9/30

            ✱  Pilot/camper breakfast pot luck, town folk invited.

            ✱  Morning Hike.  Plane rides for people from town.

            ✱  BBQ Lunch provided by APA 1200pm, pot luck side dishes and desserts

            ✱  Bruzzi's Vineyard wine tasting around 2pm

            ✱  Dinner at Antlers, Young - Prime Rib is $45 (We will need a count for those interested because there is a limited amount.)

             ✱  Evening Dessert by the Fire and Entertainment

            ✱  Primitive Camping,  Portable Toilets.

            ✱  6 person accusations with Vern Van Voorst in Young.  Sign up required.

            ✱  Members driving/ RV-ing

• Cost for Dinner Friday and Saturday night estimated $17- $33 per person, liquor  separate cost.
• Lunch on Saturday will be provided by APA. Potluck side dishes and desserts.
• Hiking/ Biking trail is in the Pine Creek area developed by a local, John McMahon.
• Look forward to seeing pilots and non-pilots in September.

The weather should be fantastic.  Get out of the desert heat for a wonderful backcountry weekend in the mountains of Arizona.
