Greetings,

The start of the new year is a busy time for APA and this year has been no exception. We recently attended the Arizona Aviation Safety Advisory Group’s (ASAG) 51st Annual Awards Banquet and were honored to present the Ruth Reinhold Award for Aviation Safety to Belinda Burnett, Director of Aviation Programs at Cochise College in Douglas, Arizona. Belinda has over 40 years of experience as a flight instructor and mentor to generations of aviation students. Belinda is the longest serving instructor at Cochise College and has over 10,000 hours of flight time with over 90% of it being dual instruction, which is impressive! The Reinhold Award is presented to individuals that make a long-term contribution to aviation safety in Arizona. Congratulations Belinda!

And I’m sure you are all looking forward to the AOPA Fly-In and Buckeye Air Fair to be held February 14 – 16 at KBXK. APA and our partners from the Recreational Aviation Foundation (RAF) will be there to connect with our members. It’s always great to see the interest in our Backcountry, Scholarship, and FlyAZ Passport programs. The exhibit hall will be in the large community hangar this year and the APA/RAF booth will be located on the back wall facing the entrance aisle so you can’t miss us. The team from AOPA and the City of Buckeye do an excellent job with the event and I’m sure this year will be no exception. We look forward to seeing you there!

Fly Safe,

Chris
