Seligman, AZ - June 14, 2025 - Daytrip Recap
For our June Daytrip, APA headed to Seligman, AZ (airport P23). Last year, when we scheduled our first Daytrip to Seligman, the temperatures were so high that we had to postpone the trip due to the excessive density altitude. This time, when we landed in Seligman, we were greeted with temperatures in the 70s, which was a nice relief from the Phoenix heatwave.

Twenty-one people and 11 aircraft showed up at the sleepy Seligman airport causing several local folks to wonder if there was some kind of event happening. We filled every open parking spot on the tarmac. An Embry Riddle flight student was performing touch and goes with no other traffic in the pattern when our group started arriving which surely caused him to wonder what was going on….

It was a great mix of veteran Daytrip participants and a number of new folks attending for the first time. As the pictures show, we had all age groups represented, which is common when there’s a great food destination as part of the Daytrip event.
Westside Lilo’s never disappoints, and Saturday was no exception. The restaurant had tables waiting for us which allowed everyone to get their morning coffee within minutes of sitting down!
If you’ve not had the opportunity to visit Westside Lilo’s and you’re going to be in the Seligman area, be sure to make a point and grab a meal. The restaurant started as a hobby shop in 1954 and became a restaurant a few years later. Unfortunately, the restaurant closed for 16 years starting in the early 1980’s but was purchased by Lilo in 1996 and reopened the same year. Lilo’s is a Route 66 “institution” with people from around the world having enjoyed a great meal and large homemade cakes and pies.
